I AM WITCH

I AM WITCH

A voice from the past echoing again

At one with nature and focus from within

Rooted and acknowledge the fabric of Universe

Manifesting, creating, protecting with intent, focus and certainty

Once again our numbers are swelling as we realize the folly of ignoring the Spirits around us

To shun their friendship, companionship, knowledge, help and divinity is to be alone

We are alone no more

WE ARE WITCH

Kreativ Blogger Award

Wow! I am so honored to be nominated for the Kreativ Blogger Award! I was nominated by Celtic Witch at Sacred Journey and All That Is Alive an herbal blog site! I am humbled that such a wonderful writer that I follow would think of me in this regard. Thank you very much!

As per the rules for acceptance of this award I’m now going to reveal 7 things about me :

1. Left-handed Gemini, born with a large cat-paw birthmark. As I child, this was how I most identified myself most as an individual.

2. Weird attraction to Rosemary. On any walk, I will pinch here and there from the neighborhood. Sprinkle it on the tops of my children’s head in strollers or my dog’s shoulder blades. For the longest time, I did not know why I did this. Now, I know, it was just instincts of protecting my children an family pets. The same as knocking on wood or throwing salt over your left shoulder or a quick prayer. And after learning some of the many uses for Rosemary, I pinch even more of it. But, I do have standing order of permission granted by the owners of the big bushes on the corner. My daughter continually asks why we don’t just grow our own? And Indeed!  I am rather fond of that particular bush and would be sad not to have a reason to visit it.

3. Wanted to name my daughter “Blue Bird’s of Spring Sing Songs of Morning” but gave her a traditional name instead.

4. Love tea parties and have way too many beautiful tea cups. Favorite tea depends on my mood. Early Grey, Champagne Rose, Oolong Jasmine are always high on my list.

5. Seven Uh? ….. Love HBO’s game of Thrones and True Blood. Always very excited when Sunday Nights roll around

6. I have served my country as a military Pilot. Someday will be piloting again but, only after my daughters are grown.

7. Have a difficult time putting down a good book. I will read until early in the morning trying to get in just one more page.

And here are those I nominate for this prestigious award (wish it could be more!):

Guardians of my Home Part III: Dogs

Dogs? Did you just say dogs? Do you not have a cat? Well, yes as a matter of fact I have 2 wonderful Maine Coons. A mother and a daughter. And I will share more on them later. But much has been written on cats (Cats, Felines, Familiars, Dillon) for the Pagan-Blog-Project: Feline Meditation, Andresta’s Feline Bespectacled Familiar, Elayne Lockhart, Delphinian Cat to list a small sampling for you. But not so much about our faithful canines. While cats have protected my home spiritually. Dogs have protected my physical body and the physical space of my home. Their voices bark out into the night at unfamiliar sounds getting too close to our gate. Understanding what is theirs to protect, dogs will guard it with body, thought and voice.

We had a wonderful Shepard mix growing up, Goldie. She was calm and good and always right where you needed her. She was always on alert. And kept us feeling safe and secure at night. And during the day always a playful companion. She gave my dad a better feeling about leaving us to go away for three weeks to a work related training school. I know that she was a dog but growing up she I never thought of her that way. She was my good friend. She died when I was in college and I had grown up with her for 15 years.

She came back to me many states away and a few years in between. I had asked for her to come back. I had missed her very much. But you never know if a Spirit is willing or wanting to come back. But I missed her very much. And one day I was shopping for a musical instrument. I happened to look into the window of a pet store and saw her! My dog! I was so mad. Very, very mad! Why was my dog in a pet store!  My heart leapt out in dismay…OK. Well, yes she was reincarnated into a young puppy. And yes, it was the place I so happened to be…I bought her on the spot, had to change residences to keep her… She was a feistier version of Goldie. And for a new set of 15 years, my best friend was along side me again. I felt so privileged that out of all the family members we had she choose to be mine again!!

Later when she was about two, I lived on land with a lot of property and the backside of it touched a national forrest. I was living by myself and in my early twenties. If she was outside and I happened to be inside she would be directly outside the very room I was in. Just in front of my bedroom window, or my living room window. Even in the middle of the night or when she was looking sound asleep, if I moved she moved.  She was always just right there. If the doorbell rang, I would answer the door with her at my right side. I would hold her collar and she would jump up and down. No would-be theft ever got the opportunity to see past me into my home with her jumping up and down beside me. She was a dog’s dog. Sleek with high flat stomach. A huntress. A protectress in the night. A great friend in the day. And her whole life’s work was to keep me and my home from harm. And I moved through my days knowing with certainty she would do everything in her power to assure my safety.

She left several years ago now. Lately, I have been feeling her presence beside me. I know that ever today with the distance of the veil she is not far away. And if ever I am in dire need of her she will manifest for me. It is a knowing and a certainty, from one soul to another.

Guardians of my Home Part II: Plants with Thorns

Guardians of my Home Part II: Plants with Thorns. This was not what I had in mind for part II but as we know things change. And as I was cleaning out my dog’s run of budding thistles last weekend, it came to mind that these guys really need an appreciated word or two. And on that note, plants do not want their hard work and effort in guarding your home to be unsung. From towering cactuses, prickly blackberry bushes, the sweet smell of rose vines to angry looking thistles, they were created to protect. Yes, they guard their precious fruit, flowers and berries with unpaired relish (well, if you ask me). It seems to me, no matter how sweetly I ask the thistles to be nice before I trim them back, they lash out and bloody me. I will wear long sleeves. I will have the toughest gloves. I will take great care and caution. Yet, every single time I trim, I get cut and attacked. They want to cause injury to those meaning them harm. They were created to protect. Want to protect and have a super-warrior, ninja approach to guarding theirs. And they grow fast. Where plain dirt is one day, a field of thistle giants in the next. It is easy to think of the fair tales of enchanted homes and castles being enshrouded with blackberry vines or roses. Or in our own American folk tales of Briar Rabbit running to safety in their prickly arms.

So, you can see how beneficial it would be to have them working on your side! Thorned-ones placed in front of fence lines, or behind. Spiked-plants planted in front of windows. They can easily make a would be burglar look for easier targets.

You can invite and sing to guardian plants to protect your home, as well as their possessions. They are very vain! They long for beautiful compliments. There are many different kinds to choose from. Some have great tasting fruit or smell. Some are just gorgeous in their thorniness. But pleaserRemember them as guardians of your home and hearth. They do work very hard.

Guardians of my home Part 1 Stones

I have been told, on more than one occasion, that I am well protected. I have guardians in my home as well as several layers of enchantments. One of my favorite Harry Potter scenes comes in The Deathly Hallows Part 1. When Hermione Granger begins the protection enchantments during their hide out in the woods. I love protection spells and enlisting the help of other spirits. The more the merrier! when it comes to home protection.

Rocks and Stones. This has always been my personal nod to the Goddess Hestia. Well, what on earth does stones and a Fire Spirit have in common you might be wondering. Well, I have always loved the ancient Greek tradition of the daughter taking a torch from her mother’s hearth fire (which is Hestia) and carrying it over to start her new home’s hearth fire. The symbolic gesture is so very beautiful. And while I never grew up with a continuous fire of Hestia in our home’s hearth, I did grow up knowing love and protection. I wanted the same love I felt from my family’s home, to be shared in my new home. So, I began my own tradition. I walk around my parent’s property to find four stones. These four stones will be in charge of guarding my home. I have always felt (rarely heard) the spirits of stones, trees, animals an inanimate objects. So, I communicate my request for stones that would like to come with me to protect my home, my hearth. Then I walk around until I find my happy volunteers.

When at my new home, I walk around my home either one of two ways. First way: Walk clockwise once per each stone/for each stone. Asking them to help watch over my home.  Please to allow no one wishing harm to enter in. Thanking each stone individually as I lay them down. One for each direction or one for each corner of my property. I kiss each stone and hold them to my heart charka as I walk and place them. Second way: Place them first and then walk around asking and thanking them for three times around your property.

I do this when I leave one permanent home to the next, taking my stones with me. I also “refresh” this enchantment. I never move my stones until I am ready to leave my home for a new residence. But I will do a refresher when I feel the need. These refreshers have included the sprinkling of Salt, Rosemary, fallen Oak twigs used as spikes, and a number of other helpful friends. If I feel the need to “refresh” I actually am just adding an additional layer of enchantment over the existing. When casting my enchantments: 1. I never use a scripted recitation of my spells.  2. I enter a slightly altered mind/space. That way my spells are always varied enough to overlap and varied enough to ask address my specific concern.

I do not usually do this on a specific date, such as, Full moon, Mid-summer’s day. I do this protection enchantment when I feel there is a need for one. Sometimes, when I decide a “refresher” is needed it does happen to be on a stronger magick day and that is fine too.

This is strong magick. One reason it is strong is because, you are not using your magick alone but are requesting guardian spirits to help. Guardian Spirits, when they volunteer, know that their work is important. It is something they look forward to doing with you. They also are not working alone either. They work with their own set of spirit friends which often times includes your family ancestors, their family ancestors or ancestors which have lived on the land before you. ANd their network is not just limited to ancestor spirits either. Can you see with the overlapping Spirits wanting to take care of your hearth how protected you may be? How then do I get them to want to work for me? 1. By being respectful to them. 2. Always asking if they want to come with me 3. Setting a clear intent of “protecting my home” before I ever start looking for a guardian stone, herb, object 4. By acknowledging, expecting and having faith that they will guard me well.

It is important that you do not forget that you have an enchanted home. If someone is slated to be at your home for…lets say an electrical appointment. And they can not find your home, even after spending five minutes driving up and down your street. Then remember, that “people wanting to cause you harm” are not suppose to find your home!!! Don’t go standing in front of your house and say “here we are!” Instead, cancel your appointment and find a different vendor. Same should go for first dates, new real estate agents, etc.

Happy Guarding!
